Torben Kjelstrup

The original plan was to be an architect. However fate would have that Torben left all that behind and applied his keen sense of aesthetics to the world of film. Here, his flair for understated humor, and love of the craft was apparent from the get go.

One of his first films; The music video “Soy Yo,” for Columbian Bomba Estero, which he both wrote and directed, reached more than 14.000.000 million views on YouTube and garnered him both a Young directors awards at Cannes and a Latin Grammy nomination. And so architecture was abandoned as he embarked on a career in advertising that has seen him direct films for brands such as Mercedes, Marks & Spencer, Lego, PlayStation, Nespresso, and Samsung, working with some of the best agencies in both Europe and the US.

Torben now splits his time between his home turf in Copenhagen and Los Angeles. But he’ll be a guy from the Danish countryside forever.
