Olívia Mucida
Director
Born: Ponte Nova, Brazil
Based: Brazil
Status: IMMIGRANT in Brazil, Netherlands, UK & Scandinavia
Olivia Mucida is an up-and-coming director hailing from Ponte Nova, in the heart of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Having graduated in Advertising from PUC Minas, she is currently based in São Paulo where she has quickly infiltrated the fashion and beauty scene with her deeply sensorial filmmaking approach. For her, the filmmaking process is inherently synaesthetic. Her starting point can be a song, or perhaps just a color. From there, she goes off to create stunning visual pieces that seem to carry a weight, a subtext that, although unspoken, is felt present. Every piece she does has a backstory, but she does not like to disclose it. It’s this hidden message that dictates the tone of each piece, and that can range from haunting beauty to infectious fun. Despite her relatively short time in the industry, she has already amassed an enviable reel, working for brands such as Haight, Bazaar, Vogue Portugal, Harper’s Bazaar, Dior, Melissa, and Warner. Her reel isn’t shy of celebrities either, featuring wonderkid footballer Endrick, world champion skateboarder Rayssa Leal, and the Brazilian heartthrob José Loreto.
