Elena Petitti di Roreto

Italian renaissance woman Elena Petitti di Roreto first got a master in media design at the New Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. Then it was film studies at the Pratt Institute in New York where she was nominated in the Presidential List. With good reason. Not quite ready to call it a day, Elena went on to study Creative Direction for Fashion at the London College of Fashion.

Satisfied that she was now sufficiently educated, she embarked on a career as an editor in Milan - which soon catapulted her into directing. Elena can be described as a director with an artists intuition, but an intellectuals far-reaching understanding of the intertextual context of film. Taking inspiration from art, opera, photography and wherever else she can find it - her films are characterised by a strong sensibility for aesthetics. But there is depth and originality there. Her editing experience lends her an ability to create a poetically layered narrative, and not only visual poignancy. And her soundscapes are incredible.

Currently based in Milan and London, she has worked with some of the most prolific names in fashion. Bottega Veneta, Mulberry, Valentino, Dries van Noten, Cos, Hugo Boss, Vogue Italia and iD.
